Cadet Michael Winey's ski boots were bronzed by his fellow patrollers and will find a permanent place on mountain at West Point. Cadet Winey lost his life in flash flooding at Fort Hood, Texas, on June 02, 2016.
The Butternut Alumni Association held its annual gathering on March 11, 2017 in the Upper Lodge at Ski Butternut and it was a great success.
The Western Mass Region was well represented at the 18th Annual Inferno Race held at Pinkham Notch in New Hampshire. Patrollers Josh Schumacher, Steve Sauve, Chris Busch, and Don Schumacher braved the elements to support the event.

Leo Smith, Linda Clifford, Bryan Sinclair pictured in front of Bousquet's new Service and Safety plaque award by the National Ski Patrol. Linda and Leo researched Bousquet’s history and found data showing that Bousquet’s first documented response to an accident by members of the NSP was in 1939.
